Jacobson's book is an in depth study of the origins of Scythian art and influences of other cultures' artistic styles on the Scythians. She gives a brief history of the Scythians from their origins. She focuses on the period between the 7th century B.C.E. and the 1st century B.C.E. The book discusses objects of Scythian art and includes black and white plates at the end.

Yamauchi's article briefly relates Ancient Near Eastern contact with the Scythians. His article includes a list of textual references to the Scythians in the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament, Assyrian texts and reliefs, as well as in Herodotus. Also the article discusses the Scythian trilobate points.

Yadin's two-volume set discusses warfare by chronological period from an archaeological and textual approach. Volume One gives an overview of weaponry and fortifications. This is followed by a more in depth discussion of the years between 4000 B.C.E and 1200 B.C.E. Volume Two covers the years between 1200 B.C.E. and 586 B.C.E.
