There is very little on settlement patterns on the web. The three pages listed below provide a general introduction to the use of computers in settlement pattern research. The first one is especially helpful, as it focuses on the country of Jordan.

http://www.softree.com - A simple GIS program available for free download. This program was used to prepare the map used in this unit. Instructors who would like to demonstrate the use of GIS in this project are welcome to download this software and then contact the author of this unit to receive the data files containing the information on settlement patterns on the Karak Plateau.
