Instructor Helps
This study provides an excellent opportunity to explore the
development of landscapes. Students can use the material in
this discussion to explore the impact that plate tectonics
and climate can have on regional and local landscapes. A
list of discussion or short essay assignments could include:
- Describe the role that plate tectonics play along the
Jordan River/Dead Sea boundary between Israel and Jordan.
- Describe the network of streams that drain the Plateau
(e.g., pattern, density, and perennial/annual).
- Discuss climatic as an influence on regional topography.
- Discuss how the preservation of relic features can mask
and/or confuse the interpretation of the modern landscape.
- Describe the role of the major hydrological process at
work on the Plateau (e.g., runoff processes, ephemeral
processes, and sapping processes).
